My name is Shelly Jerman and I am a Certified Kindersign Instructor. I have also taken 3 college semesters of American Sign Language(ASL). My additional ASL experience allows me to share a broad vocabulary of signs, not just the basics. Through my training and knowledge I can help you and your child communicate more effectively. The program I offer utilizes ASL to allow you to communicate with your baby before they can verbalize. I cover basic signs as well as abstract concepts.

The baby signing workshop or in home course provides you with background information in baby sign, tips and techniques, and sign instruction in different categories. Also, how to utilize games to promote signing, ideas for developing verbal language and  Q&A time to clear up any confusion and answer any questions.

The average parent chooses to teach their child about 10-20 words, but you do not have to limit yourself and you can learn words specific to your child’s interests. I offer personalized plans with dictionaries tailored to your requests.  Some popular programs are zoo animals, farm animals, emotions or anything else you may be interested in.

The basic program I offer is a two hour course covering 50 signs in the categories listed above. I will teach you the method to effectively teach your baby or toddler these signs. After this course you will have the skills and resources to be able to communicate with your child through sign. I will provide you will a dictionary for you to keep as well as other hand outs and information. Look at the “How They Learn Page” to see the different methods I utilize in teaching sign.
